Colds?? in goats
Hi. I have 3 goats now and one is a 7month old alpine/ Toggenburg/Lamancha mix and the other twins are Nubian's, they are 4 months old. When I received the babies they had coughs. It is not a dry cough. They eat well, their stool is fine and worm free, they are drinking plenty of water. I clean their bedding constantly, and make sure its not moldy. The babies mother had a cough too. Now my older goat is coughing. But they are otherwise healthy, playful, eating well and seem normal. I did notice yesterday that the twins have nasal discharge. Can the goats have just colds or pneumonia? :\

Re: Colds?? in goats
I have two pygmy goats and one of them has a runny nose, has minimal cough and sneezes some. The breeder I bought them from said to give him a shot of penicillin (3/4 cc to 1 cc) once a day for three days. I did that and it seemed to work. I bought the supplies at Tractor Supply and it wasn't very much for the penicillin, syringes and needles...about $22.00.

Hope all goes well, Missy W. in Seguin Texas!!
