Cloth Diapers verse Disposable
I am curious, of ever ones opinions and expriences with cloth diapers? I am trying to figure out the pros'n'cons of each. I know cloth diapers, would require s little more time and clean-up and can be a bit mess, but over all they I would think they are cheaper in the long run then disposable? And I have been reading that babies who used cloth diapers, were potty-trained up to 6 months sooner, then babies who wore disposable diapers. Curious, if any of you all have used them, and the pros/cons of each, and which would be the best route to go. I think disposable would work for long trips, extended shopping trips, extended errand running, vacation and travel. I am also curious, which brand of cloth diapers is the best for infants/newborns, then up to a year old? Thank you :-) Annie

I know you posted this ages ago, but maybe it'll help someone else! You gotta go the cloth diaper route, at least try it...it's by far cheaper then disposables, and they do say that cloth diaper babies potty train faster/sooner. Not to mention the landfills, and how about your little precious? Why cpver the newborn in plastic. We used all kinds of cloth diapers and seems that each baby is different..the motherease system works great..never had a leak, but the chinese prefolds seem to be more affordable and just as good..covers Nikky, Motherease, even Dappi or re-use em! I swithced to Mother-ease because their covers cover a wider range of weight then the Nikkys I had to keep buying! Try E-bay to find great deals....For my friends and I there are so many reasons why we all use cloth diapers, I have a washer and dryer and a bear that seems to get in my trash whenever I use disposables!! Ew! Some of my friends use a diaper service that cost equal to buying disposables.....or off to the laundrymat.....I love using cloth diapers! Feels good in them and on my wallet!

I love cloth diapers too! The only time we use disposables are for travel. I pack cloth in the diaper bag for errands/shopping--even if I'm out all day I still use my cloth (just bring a reusable bag for dirty diapers). I love pocket diapers...I prestuff them so they are just like using dispables -- only fleece touches the baby's skin. I also love prefolds for around the house and have never had a leak/blowout with Prorap covers. There are a lot of reasons I use cloth: helping the environment, more healthy for baby, nicer for baby, less money. My system is to wash every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I do one short wash on cold and a long wash on hot with a little detergent. I will answer more questions if you have any. Some great websites: www.naturalbabies.com (great customer service, low shipping price, lots of choices!); www.borntolove.com (Lots of Info).
