Checking Things Out
Checking Things Out
Razel and Dmitri

Razel headed out of the cafeteria, Dmitri right behind him. They both walked silently to the hanger where they entered their respective MS’s, starting their engines and systems. Spera took lead and flew out of the hanger first, then Dmitri’s Agonotheta Letum followed suit, flying out and keeping on Spera’s side. The two titans among MS’s sped up into the sky, both MS’s scorching their way into the upper atmosphere and then into space.
Razel appeared on Dmitri’s com-screen, “here’s where we start.”
On Dmitri’s screen a map of the solar system came up, a green line forming from where they now were and heading clear out to the edge of human territory. Dmitri couldn’t help but be confused, “where are we going? The only colony this far out isn’t quite at this co-ordinate yet.”
Razel smiled, “Queenie has info that there’s some kinda floating instillation half the size of a colony just chillin’ at that co-ordinate. We think it might have connections to Vis, they’ve been caught on one of the bugs talkin’ about something big.”
Dmitri just grunted.

After a silent fly through space, Razel and Dmitri finally came upon a structure floating in the darkness. The reports were correct, the structure having a mass about half the size of a normal colony. The main body of the station was a sphere, from it two ‘wings’ came out from opposite sides. On the end of each wing a smaller sphere was attached, and from the bottom of the main sphere an upside-down tower stretched down below the sphere.
Razel again appeared on Dmitri’s screen, “aight, it’s possible we might have to deal with some security. Anything’s possible.”
Dmitri grunted, “I’d be disappointed otherwise.”
They both flew around the main sphere for a while, checking out everything from the outside and searching for a way into the structure. Both veterans saw construction still active on the station, MS’s and small ships flying about and working on various areas of the structure. At once they both notice a hanger entrance, a solid metal door blocking the way in.
“I got it,” Dmitri said, flying in front of Razel and solidly pressing his MS against the door. Agonotheta Letum’s chest began to hum, pressing hard against the horizontally-opening door. Soon after, the door began to slowly crack open, as if influenced by a hidden force. The doors opened enough for them both to fly in, as they did, and what waited for them inside was a vast hanger large enough to park at least twenty-five hundred MS’s. The only thing, every single spot was empty. Just then, alarms began to sound and red lights spun against the walls.
“Well, we got someone’s attention,” Razel said, getting ready for a fight. And a fight he was going to get. Some round drones began to swarm around their MS’s, firing beams at both Dmitri and Razel. Spera blocked the shots with his LineSnatcher shields, the Linear shields easily dispersing the attacks. Dmitri dodged the beams with experience, not a single shot hit him. Razel used his LineDivider Linear Sword to swipe the drones to scrap, as Dmitri took care of the rest with some fancy Linear Lance action. All-in-all the drones were of no challenge to the veteran MS pilots.

The alarms suddenly stopped and the light returned to normal. On both of their screens a man in his early forties appeared, smiling. His dark brown hair was long, and he wore it in a ponytail. He looked quite healthy, but had the wrinkles to show his age.
“Well done,” he said, his voice cheerful and seemingly excited, as if he were in the presence of someone he admired, “there’s no doubt the completion of this station will be highly celebrated, and its opening festivities very entertaining.”
He laughed, a quite annoying laugh at that. It was hearty and at the same time, cut short and re-breathed.
“What the hell are you talking about?” Razel blurted out, annoyed and still curious to know if this man was connected to Vis Vires.
“First, let me introduce myself,” he said, bowing on the com-screen, “my name is Redrico Alzabrrio, and this is my Training Facility. I call it Zero Heaven. And once it’s finished, it’ll be the premiere place for everyone to improve their skills.”
Thought he looked Hispanic, Razel thought to himself.
Dmitri didn’t like this guy already, reminded him too much of a used car salesman. Seemed like he was already pushing his training facility on them.
Razel could see through this guy and all he saw was money. Although money was the root of all evil, he could tell this Redrico fellow had no intention on harboring criminals like Vis Vires. He smelled clean, for now.
“All right, I guess there’s nothing else for us to see…” Razel said before being interrupted by Redrico.
“Wait, I want to give you your invitation in person,” Redrico said, a smile on his face. Just then a gold invitation appeared on both of their screens reading:

To whom it may concern,

You have been invited to the grand opening of Zero Heaven, a training facility like no other in the Earth Sphere.
Festivities will include rides for the kids, a tour of the different areas of Zero Heaven, and a grand finale Mobile Suit Tournament in which the winner will win a cash prize and free tickets to Zero Heaven.

The Tournament will be by invitation only.

The Grand Opening will be on March 29, this year.

God, Dmitri thought, his invitations were even advertisements.
He secretly smiled inside though, as this would be another great test against Razel, another chance to prove himself against his friendly rival.

“Mr. Alzabrrio, thanks for your time, and I’m sure we’ll be here for your Tournament,” Razel said, inching his way to the controls.
“Yes, please be here,” Redrico said, his face one big smile, thinking about all the money he was going to make.

The duo left the station, both now pondering what it was that Auray was planning, and how they were going to figure out what it was now that they were back to square one.
