Cardio
Darrin,

As you know my goals and exactly what I am working towards, I am questioning my cardio frequency. Currently I am doing moderate cardio 6 days a week on top of my 4-day weight training split. It is consistently 40-45 minutes on treadmill at 4.2 MPH.

I have taken notice that some of your clients report doing no cardio in the initial stages of thier program. Am I helping or hindering my progress with this cardio regimen?

Thank you! :D

Re: Cardio
you can read my thoughts on cardio on another post but you are at a stage where you can do it for now. JUst remember that you can burn as much muscle as fat doing cardio. It isnt going to help as much as sticking to the diet and pushing yourself in the gym. I would say for now maybe do no more than 20-30 minutes 3 X a week. I know that will feel like nothing to you but you arent eating the calories to maintain the amount of cardio you are doing and your body MIGHT get rid of muscle to adjust to the cals and amount of cardio.

Re: Cardio
I have just done an experiment..painfull one too:x 9 weeks of HIIT sprints. 25-30 minutes 4x per week.Monday am and pm,then Tuesday and Friday am. Logic and all I should have trimmed down-HIIT cardio is prefered for burning fat over long, slower pace. Could be just me...nothing happened. I have not dropped scale weight or caliper readings:\ As for my diet,I think it is pretty jacked up (but I could be under eating)
Now as from next week I will crank up my weights, loose the sprints and see what my body will do;)

Ciao

Re: Thank you, LA
I had just found it and read it in it's entirerty just before you posted the link. Such a wealth of info here, I guess I still have not gotten to read everything. Thank you for looking out for me and taking the time to post a link.

As I read the info, it's amazing how everyday I continue to learn how very mis-educated I have been through previous PTs. I am really having to re-learn this whole process in order to get to the best me. Sometimes deactivating everything I have learned in the past is so very difficult for me because it did work - but only TEMPORARILY! :\ Who wants to be in the best shape possible temporarily?????? Not me ever again! I am aiming for a permanent change this time. A lifelong change.

Thank you!
Rena
