Can I alter your pk3 files and make customised ones

Im not as creative as you dudes, but id like to do something with the maps etc.. I never made custom maps just looking it all up on the web! but Id like to take what youve done and alter it nothing proffessional just for fun! am I breaking the rules here, do I have to make my own from scratch? I dont even know if its possible as i said im just starting, im not afraid of hard work but not as techy as you, im hopeing the pk3 files with the mod have the files needed? can I!!!!!?????

tried making a quick custom map with gk, but when i used /devmap it said this map was not made for wild west! is it closed to custom maps! I dont mind its so much fun i just got inspired, maybe its copywrite? In any case thx for a great game!
If your completely new to mapping, you may find mapping for
WW a little hard.. I would suggest following some RtCW
tutorials first, and then once you are confortable with
radiant, you can start with WW
There is a mappers pak for peeps who wana try mappin for WW,
but its still in a very beta stage, with no instruction !!

You need to register, but believe me it is worth it
Use the search feature there to find the answers to any Q's
you have.. if you cannot find an answer, make a post,
there are plenty of helpful skilled mappers there.
