Braided line and associated problems Braided lines present many problems for fishermen. Below are a couple that are common. The new braided lines are very slick. I get alot customers complaining that their drags are not working. If you are having problems with your drag slipping try this test: Place your thumb on the line, tighten your drag to the max, turn the handle and watch the spool edge. If the spool is turning and the line is not, you have not attached your line to the spool correctly. Strip the line down to the spool. use some alcohol to clean the spool. Re-tie your line to the spool and put a drop or two of Super Glue on the line and let it dry. Or take some mono line and put on spool first, then tie the braided line to the mono with a proper knot. Braided lines will also cut through ceramic rings on rod guides and reel line guides. Periodically check those items for cuts. |
