Bowman classification
I have returned to archery after a 15 year's in the wilderness.
I have noticed a sad thing. That the classification scores for 1st class have been down graded. With the introduction of the Bowman grade. Why was this?

Re: Bowman classification
Bit late with reply and you've probably had an explanation already!!
I'm a lapsed archer who returned to the fold a year ago, after 13 years in the wilderness and also noticed that the 1st class classification had been 'de-valued' with the Bowman being inserted.
A lady now has to shoot 140 points less on a Hereford to attain a 1st class score, than she did when I last shot in 1992. Comparing the old handicap tables with the new ones is quite an eye opener!!
Having said that it is now harder to earn MB so it seems that the Bowman has effectively been slotted in to make the transition between the classifications smoother (and in some cases, more attainable), with the Bowman taking the place of the higher reaches of the old 1st class and the lower reaches of MB.
I'm not sure that I'm completely happy with the fact it is easier to reach 1st class, but then without it being so I would only just be, instead of knocking on the door of Bowman!!
