Big foot found: Massive chunk of foam rubber pulled from
Buckmaster Pond
By Sean Murphy / News Staff Writer - Tuesday, March 30, 2004

WESTWOOD -- Police got a real kick out of what they found
floating in Buckmaster Pond yesterday morning.
It started when School Resource Officer Paul Sicard was told
by kids at the Sheehan Elementary School that they saw a giant
foot floating in the water.
Sicard went to check it out, and said the kids were not pulling
his, er, foot. Sure enough, in fact, police found a massive chunk of
foam rubber in the shape of what was clearly a right foot, bobbing
in the water.
The unusual item is about 5 feet long, 3 feet high, black in color,
and very detailed, including well-defined toes and toenails. Sicard
said there were reports that the foot might have been sitting on a
park bench in the area during the weekend.
It's not clear just how much the foot weighs, but officers had a
heck of a time dragging the waterlogged chunk of rubber out of the
water, and had to call the highway department to pick it up to take
back to the station.
Police still have no idea who it belongs to. Police Sgt. Leo
Hoban said anyone who can prove ownership of the massive foot
may hoof it on over to the police station to claim it.
