Berbers in the New Rules
Friends,
Why are the Berbers the only neutral that does not go to war when their territories are attacked? I think it would make them more realistic if the following addition were made to the special rules for the Berbers:
If a nation attacks the Berber Empire, then the chance of Berber raids will increase by the following amount: +1 for territories owned by the attacking nation and declared allies, +2 for any territory of the Berber Empire incorporated by the attacking nation.
... my two cents...

The Berbers weren't set up to respond as a single nation because each territory is representative of lands held by different Berber tribes. The Berbers waged war against each other almost as often as they raided their more normalized nations to the north and south.
But you certainly could implement an optional rule were they react like a lose confederation where all the tribes were rules by a central grand chieften.

Point taken re: Berbers...
Ryan,
Thanks for the historical perspective. I have read some of your previous discussions/articles about the Berbers, and I see how this would not be in keeping with their historical character.
That being said, I still feel they need some tweeking (as there are no AGRICULTURE rules online to keep armies out of them hills)...
In my admittedly limited gaming experience, I have not found them to be that worrying, if a player can grasp the rules. And I need more terror...
Perhaps, they should be given the element of surprise, and attack one round for free, or get a first strike like the knights of Europe, or steal RV like "The Bandit" special generals.
I know I should really just get my own game going... ha! ha!
Thanks for the forum... seems like just us for now.
