Back to Basics
Hey Darrin,

Been on your Back to Basic routine for 5 weeks. I've seen definite progress and feel it's time to mix things up. I've tried changing the order of exercises but would like to hear your suggestions. Thanks.

Re: Back to Basics
just do something as simple as that for now. We tend to make things seem so complex when it comes time to change routines, but something as simple as changing the order of exercises makes a difference. You can also follow the same format but do completely different movements. Another simple change would be your rep range. If you have been shooting for 10 reps, shoot for 20 for a couple weeks to hit different muscle fibers.

Glad to hear you are seeing good results though! Keep it up.

Re: Back to Basics
Thanks Darrin,

I'm pressed for time on my workouts so I'm concerned with pushing 20 reps. Just read your great article "Chest Training 101". Can you list your top exercises so I can mix up my Back to Basic workout? I always feel a huge difference when I change my exercises.

Re: Back to Basics
I like to stick to compound movements (moving more than one joint at a time), things like flat, incline, decline bench, pullups with various grips, bent over rows, shoulder press, upright rows, squats, deadlifts, moves like that. The bottom line is as long as you are struggling with the movement and changing it up every 4 weeks you should continue to progress (with genetic limitations of course).

Next training article I am writing is on biceps and triceps. I will be listing a lot of my favorite arm exercises in there. Glad you liked the chest article, I want to give tips that no one else does is any of the other mags.

Can't wait. When does that issue come out?
