I dont use sauces generally, I just season any meat really well. I have a spice blend that I make up from scratch that I wrote about in Inside Fitness that goes well with all meat, fish, shellfish, even vegetables for that matter.
Here it is.
2 tbsp Garlic Powder
2 tbsp Paprika
2 tbsp Salt
1 tbsp Cayenne Pepper
1 tbsp Onion Powder
1 tbsp Dried Thyme
1 tbsp Dried Oregano
1 tbsp Cracked Black Pepper
I did however come up with a clean as a whistle BBQ sauce that is hot, sweet and spicy while having less than 1g of carbs per tbsp. Regular BBQ sauce has at least 12g of sugar.
Here it is along with the stats per tbsp:
1/2 cup President's Choice Ketchup Type Sauce (low carb)
1/2 cup Franks Hot Sauce, Buffalo Wing Style
1 tsp Chopped Fresh Garlic
1 tsp Equal
1 tsp Honey
1 tsp Dijon Mustard
Just mix together and use as BBQ sauce for basting, a dipping sauce, or even as an addition to stirfried foods.
Per Tbsp: 4 calories .1g Protein, .9g Carbs, 0g fat.
Try these and let me know what you think.
