Any aspiring writters out there?
Hello there peeps. I never knew this place existed, but now that I do I'm going to make th most of it.

Most people involved in Simming are here because we want to write--I know I am--but I'd love to see my name in print some days. I come up with new book ideas almost every week and have even thought about starting a new book series (like New Frontier) but I just don't have the time, and most of my ideas could use fleshing out with the help of another big fan of ST (that is series that were called ST from the very statr and don't just pick up the title a few episodes into the season, not mentioning any names...Enterprise).

So my question is this really, is there any one out there who wants to try and write a ST novel with me?

Let me know (either here or email me, its on the IDF, Goliad, Patriot and SB10 sites)

What's in mind...Anyone interested?
Hello there Captain!

I'm glad someones replied, I was beginning to think I was some kind of nutter :-)

Anyway, I have loads of ideas for writing--most of them revolve around creating a new ship and crew (much like Simming), as all the others have pretty much been covered to varying degrees and theres a whole fleet out there to explore.

One of my ideas was writting a book for the new Lost Era series (set between ST: VI and TNG). Involving the loss of Troi's father during a mission on the edge of the Federation. Other established characters would include: Saavik from The Wrath of Khan as CO; Rixx from "Conspiracy" (TNG) as AXO; and Dr. Dalen Quaice from "Remember Me" (TNG) as CMO. I'm not actually sure what all would happen in the novel, I just wanted to explore how Ian Andrew Troi died, as well as see what Saavik got up to (she's one of my favourite characters).

Another idea was based on the Nova-class USS Horizon, as a deep space science ship. After the Dominion War (it'd be set in around 2377, after Voyager's return) most of Starfleet's resources would go into rebuilding the fleet, relief efforts to Cardassia and trying to improve upon the good relations with the Romulans. This wouldn't leave many ships for exploring, which is where the Nova-class comes in. Redesigned for deep space assignments and independant operations it is to become the founding member of the Corps of Discovery. The main thing with this idea is that unlike every other ST book out there, it wouldn't fall in current series pitfalls of just being space battle after space battle (though there would be some, Nova-classes aren't designed for combat), and would be focused more on exploration, seeking out new life and civilisations and phenomena--and the troubles they can bring.

The crew would be kinda like the SCE in a way, focusing on a specialist science team and what they get up to (as well as the rest of the crew). As for established characters I'd thought about: Sam Lavelle from "Lower Decks" (TNG) as XO; 'Alexandra' Taitt from "Descent" (TNG) as CSO; Lisa Neeley from "Rocks and Shoals" (DS9) as CRO. All as definate candidates, then maybe Taurik from "Lower Decks" (TNG) as CEO; Melora Pazlar from "Melora" (DS9) as Stellar Cartographer/ Astrometrics. Having it set after Voyager would also allow characters with darker pasts to be added (Crewmnn Gerron from "Learning Curve", Crewman Noah Lessing from "Equinox", and a few other).

Well that's my ideas for now at least.

Let me know what you think.

Re: Any aspiring writters out there?
Yeah, I'm an aspiring writer, though more in general fantasy and science-fiction than Star Trek. I get my Star Trek writing desires done through the sims I'm one. In fact one of my sims, the Griffin, is actually set up as a joint Star Trek story effort instead of how the sims in IDF and most other places are run.

Instead of missions we have episodes, with defined beginnings and ends. After episodes are done being written by the crew, as the CO I go through the "chapters" to edit them and put them in the proper order. Then they get posted on the website for any who wishes to read.

To see what I mean, the location of the story that's been written thus far is at:
www.mybigbang.com/Griffin/story.html

And as a shameless plug for myself: my personal story and poems site (which is to include a story about the history of my second and third characters in IDF) is at:
www.mybigbang.com/worlds/stories.html

Writing ideas
I'm not opposed to writing other Sci-Fi and Fantasy aside from ST, its just with such a broad canvas and some good ideas its easy to come up with something familiar but still quite different as well.

I'd also love to try a Fantasy/Horror/Sci-Fi type book (vampires and all that) but I just need a good angle and someone to bounce ideas off of, there's so much of it out there that if not done well it could be quite dull.

Writing ideas
I suppose I could be called an aspiring writer myself. I tend to write in sci-fi, fantasy, action/adventure etc...

So far I've only put fanfiction online, but use to write long epic like stories as school work (and always told they were way too long and had way too many characters :rolleyes )

I did once start writing a story so orginally titled 'Vampire' but sadly all but half the prologue and some of chapter 1 were saved as I foolishly started writing it on paper and then converted to computer. So I had prologue and start of chapter 1 (and character profiles) on paper and then wrote about 6-7 chapters on the computer and low and behold the hard-drive blew and all my work was lost.
But I thought it's ok I still have the paper stuff but I lost the first few pages with profiles and start of prologue...and to this day I can only remember a few characters and details.

Well rant over :)

Nothing wrong with that
There's nothing wrong with that. I'm a man and I play as three Active female characters, i female DD and one dual sexed Hermat.

Re: Nothing wrong with that
LOL, Well Ezra is my only character (in star trek rpg's ) so far.

Well I s'pose I use him in other rpg's as well tho.
I only have one female character in a rpg of the tv series Andromda.

Anyway...It's times like these (when a discussion like this pops up) that I feel like trying to write 'Vampire' again but what with the numerous fanfictions I'm writing (and people bugging...I mean urging me to finish them) I don't have the time to start it up again.

It's funny how I started thinking about it again just before discovering this discussion....oh well!

Re: Nothing wrong with that
I used to play a few male characters, one of them actually married (That got confusing)...
A lot of people tend to mistake my characters for males because I come up with weird names... the most common is people mistaking my Elven Rian Pelerand (Tireliana Jorianele Melianele Peleranele) for a male character.

Anyway, I also write fanfictions. I'm writing one now entitled "What Haunts an Anvasse?". It centers around Rian Pelerand, (who is based on Ryan Pelerand, from a Harry Potter fanfiction on fanfiction.net called His Majesty's Secret Service). Rian, at our current timeframe, would be about 165 years old, but in the story, which takes place in the mid 1800s, she is 15 years old, and a student at Hogwarts.

I also started writing another Harry Potter Fanfiction called Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix... but then the Order of the Phoenix came out before I finished the story and it was no longer fun.

And I'm writing yet another Harry Potter fanfiction (big surprise, right? :rolleyes ). All I'll say is it is slash. If you don't know what slash is, good, because I'm not telling what it is. Enough people think I have a sick mind already.

I'm thinking about writing a Star Trek fanfiction, but I'm not sure whether or not I will.

I also have a letter from 2 years ago published in Kids' Letters to Harry Potter, page 81 or 83, I forget which.
