Angua's Dysfunctional Famlia
There's one in every family...
The thing is the oddball of the family is generally the pyscho one, but here Angua is the normal one. The rest of her family... oh my. The father who practically thinks he's a wolf, the power hungry and completely insane brother (Wolf the wolf) and the mother who gives into Wolf because she's rather power hungry herself. Oh yes, and of course the brother (I believe it's brother at least) who's a champion sheepdog (although he is one of the sane ones of the family).
How did Angua ever manage to turn out normal? She's awesome, you have to admit, and yet her family is so completely out there. I rather like her father though, he's just rather amusing.

Well, is this normal werewolf behavior? Maybe she IS the oddball. I mean, she's a vegitarian and has no need to hunt people or plot to take over Uberwald. So- she is the weird one in a good way.
But- I really don't care for her family. Yes, her father is basically a big doggie and her mother is a bit...unbalanced. And she is also a snob. I am very glad that Angua got away from her odd family! But- she'll never really forget them.

Well, she needs the warning, doesn't she? I mean, its like the people who can look back at generations of accountants or solicitors, and think 'Well, whatever I do, I have to make sure I don't turn out like that!'

Re: Angua's Dysfunctional Famlia
I liked Angua's dad. He was funny, and not quite as evil as the rest of them. I think it gives wolves a bad rap though, they're way smarter than dogs and the Baron was acting like, well, Riley (my sweet, slightly idiotic, puppy)

Well, I LOVE wolves. My wall is plastered with their posters! (Clashes with my Egyptian stuff something awful, but oh well)
Her dad was...er- er- yes, I suppose he was like Riley. Stupid. Evil, but too dim to fugure it out. Loud. Jumps on people and things. Me not liking him. Yes, very much like Riley...
I know what you mean about the "Let's not turn out like them." In most cases it doesn't work. Like, the old "I'll never turn out like my parents!" Ha. But- in Angua's case, I rather doubt she'll follow in their paths. She's too good for them, whatever her breeding.
Re: Angua's Dysfunctional Famlia
So she's a good-natured werewolf. I buy it. I really don't think she'll turn out like her family. Remember the end of Elephant? She was so glad when Carrot agreed to "put her down" should she turn out like that. He would too. I don't think we need to worry about her going evil.

I think that she's too good to go 'bad' - although she does have the odd lapse, she can get it out of her system in the Watch!
If you like wolves, have you tried the Eddings series? He loves them, and his heroes do spend some time as wolves (especially when you get onto the prequels!)

David Eddings is fabulous!!!!! *Grumbles* I'm still missing Queen of Socery. I do have a thing for wolves in books (Grim- this is why I'm not a Sirius member, he rocks, but so does Moony), I absolutley adore Angua.

OMG! Wow, we have authors in common... Yes, I loove Eddings! I made SPF read them too, hehe! Now THAT is another great author.

This is scary...I liike Eddings too. Though I've only read the Belgariad and the Malloreon (sp?). Zakath was great even if the whole cat thing was a trifle worrying.
This is too much to hope for and even more of topic: anyone like a show called Farscape?

Oh, we always get off topic. In fact we excel at it! Wow, I am surprised (well, not really I guess) that we have so many people who read the same things, but it sort of makes sense too. I loved the Belgariad and the Malloreon! Zakath was cool, but Silk was my very favorite. Who doesn't love a spy? (Who also happens to be one of the richest guys in the world?!) I did not really get into his other series, though. They didn't seem to have as much humor and I didn't like the characters as much either.
As to the other quesiton- sorry, I don't watch any of the whole 5 channels we get! I very badly want cable...
This is very scary how we all like the same authors here. Creepy... very creepy. I've read the Belgariad and the Malorean plus another random Eddings "The Redemtion of Althalus". I want to read the Bio type things for Pol and Begarath, but haven't gotten around to it. (LOVE Silk)

Well - I would *definitely* recommend Belgarath and Pol's autobiographies - they explain so much about the history of the world. And the Rivan Codex is good for that.
Well - I sort of got into Farscape, then went travelling to Oz, and when I got back 6 months later I was totally lost! Then my boyfriend decided to get me into Babylon 5, and I have had very little spare time since...

Re: Off topic...
You know I just realised I spelled the original topic wrong. Oopsies! I'm a terrible typist (not too great at spelling either, but I really do know how to spell family).
Hmmm, I have an idea for a new topic.

Ah well, never mind.
I have difficulties typing/spelling. I can do the long words but the easy ones seem to escape me.
Do we have a just Pratchett forum? Or is that the mended drum? Or is that just off topic stuff? Any which way it's probably where this question should be...lol.
Re: Off topic...
Slightly on topic: I love the way Angua's dad says 'have seat!' The admiral on the TV series JAG also says that. I think he's aiming to say 'have A seat' but it doesn't come out that way.
