My current weight is 166 and my goal weight is 150. I'm 5'7" with a bigger build. I remember being around 150, maybe even 145 many years ago, and I was happy with that. I've lost 12 pds since March 13th -- I'm nervous this won't keep going -- my fat burners will be done this week -- but, I've been eating pretty good and being consistent with my workouts (key!). I'm excited to pick up my CLA and new protein powder tomorrow though!!
I'm switching from doing an all over body workout 3-5 days a week to doing a Four Day training program. I've also made the big jump and am taking my Udos' twice a day straight up -- no more mixing it in protein shakes for this girl .
I just did a quick leg workout tonight:
Leg Extensions: 4 x 15 reps @ 20 pds.
Deadlifts : 3 x 15 reps @ 10 pds.
Pile Squats : 3 x 15 reps @ 10 pds.
Whoo hoo!!! the first journal entry Your goal weight is TOTALLY acheivable even in a shorter time frame than you think. On my blog www.fitchic3.blogspot.com (second post down) you'll see Kelly Kuus (who just won her first figure show) and she went from 17% bf to between 7-9% bf in just 8 short weeks!! If you believe you WILL Acheive it!!
Congrats on losing the first 12lbs!!! I can't wait to follow your journal here
LA
p.s. you must be very dedicated just to be takin the UDO's straight up.
Re: Angela's Journal
That's AMAZING that Kelly did that in 8 weeks -- wow!!!
I've focused more in these past two months then ever before -- I've been much more consistent. I beleive now is the time! I've always said to myself that I'm gonna lose the weight by my birthday, get in shape, blah, blah, blah and then another year has passed and I've been in the same place. Well, NO MORE!!!! )Birthday is in August -- PLENTY of time!!!)
And I'm really starting to see how important nutrition is.
For May, I'm going to follow the Four Day training program that Monica Brant has laid out in her book. I'm also going to play a bit with supplements and see what happens. I'm sticking with Udo's (brave girl taking it straight! Hey -- I want the fat GONE!!!!! Buh bye!!!!), CLA and that cortisol pill this month. My fat burner is done this week. I have to play with nutrition a bit , but I eat every 2 - 3 hors and I'm trying to be more aware of what I'm eating. By playing I mean getting the mix of protein, carbs and fats down. But, it's a learning experience and a journey!. Plus, as clothes are getting big on me, out they go to Goodwill!!!
Anyway, tonight is Chest/shoulders/back -- gotta go see what I can do in my home gym here!
Ange

Re: Angela's Journal
Not much happening today -- day off from training. A little sore in the chest and back, but not too bad -- guess I'll add more reps next workout.
I'll do some stretching tonight while watching "The Amazing Race" -- I'm addicted to that show! Hamstrings are still a bit sore from Monday.
Stomach is very upset today -- could be the CLA??
Re: Angela's Journal
Are you taking the CLA with food? Its always good to take a fat with food, it helps with absorption and digestion.
I love your goals!! I can't wait to see you acheive these and follow your journey to success. Have you thought about competing if you get to your goal body fat...abs and the vein in the arms?
What is your diet like now that you are on track? And what kind of home gym do you have? You are very dedicated to work out at home
We are just watching lost.....talk about addiction, lol
Re: Angela's Journal
Hi LA -- the plan is to compete in 2007.
I'm using free weights, stability ball, step and the home gym is a Northern Lights "Laurentian Gym". It's not bad -- nothing like in the gyms, but it'll work. I was SO excited to do seated rows!!!
My diet isn't fine tuned at all -- I want to get it more in place this month. 5 - 6 meals a day, chicken, fresh veggies, no salt, oatmeal, egg whites, trying to stay away from sugar, simple carbs, I'm drinking over 3 litres of water a day, down to one black coffee a day, decaf. green tea.
I had the WORST experience with almonds today. I've been having 10 almonds (plain) with either a fruit or cottage cheese every now and then. Sometimes, my mouth and tongue get a little itchy and feel weird. Nothing too bad -- I can eat chocolate covered almonds and NEVER get this feeling . Today, my mouth felt like it was on fire and the itch was horrible. I can eat nuts and have p.b. with no problem. But, I'm not eating almonds again after this. Scary.
Anyway, need to sleep!!
Tomorrow is arms, legs and abs!!! Bring on the veins!!
We all need them in order to achieve success--you have to visualize what you want and go after it!! When I was preparing for the Ontario Championships, IFBB pro Tammy Strome (who is also my friend) told me to dream and visualize what i wanted the outcome to be and I did-- and I acheived my goal
Really focus on building your physique this year if your goal is to compete next year...work on the Vtaper (back and shoulders) . The Vtaper is sooo important--it gives the appearance of a tiny waiste. And symetry is also important Try leaning up now to see whats underneath then give yourself a good 5-6 months for your off season to better your body.
Don't wipe sodium completely out of your diet, your body needs some.
Thats crazy about the almonds....scary..have you ever been tested for alergies to these?
What is your workout split for the week?
Your journal is great!! Are you seeing any results so far?
Re: Angela's Journal
great journal, i haven't checked in here in a while! i'll be following your journal too, very motivating and i like to see what other girls are doing. keep up the good work. veins and abs all the way!
Re: Angela's Journal
ange, just looking at the weights you are using here. You should be able to lift WAAAAAY more. I have women your size and much older incline pressing 30-35lb Dbs. You are doing flys with the same weight your press, this should not be the case.
Make sure that if you are getting 15 reps (obviously the goal rep you are shooting for) consistantly then you need to up the weight. Keep in mind you are trying to challenge the muscle, if you keep hitting 15 it is no longer a challenge and progress stops.
DOnt be affraid of getting "huge" with heavier weight, it wont happen as long as you stay in the 15 reps or more range.
Re: Angela's Journal
Yeah, so I'll be the woman who smells like A5-35 tomorrow -- the one who is having a hard time lifting her coffee cup to her mouth!
Thanx Darrin!
So, here's my workout for tonight and I'll probably go heavier on Monday:
I had to switch to the machine tonight -- I only have free weights up to 10 pds. right now.
Seated Bench Press 1 x 30 pds x 15 reps
2 x 40 pds x 15 reps
Front Lateral Raises (with dumbbells)
3 x 10 pds. x 10 reps
Lateral Pull Down 3 x 60 pds. x 15
Seated Incline Bench Press 1 x 30 pds x 15
2 x 40 x 15
Side Lateral Raises (dumbbells)
1 x 10 x 10
2 x 10 x 12
Seated Row 3 x 60 x 15
I did a circuit again, one of each. My shoulders are burning and my chest hurts. I couldn't do any more in the shoulders -- I was losing form and I was afraid of straining my neck. I could have done more in chest and back and I will Monday -- I'm curious to see how much I hurt in the morning!!!
LA -- I've never been tested for allergies before -- almonds have never really bothered me. I'm fine with chocolate covered almonds! Maybe I'll stick to those!!
I'm noticing changes in my arms and after switching my workout a bit tonite, I'm sure things will come together a bit ( a lot) more this month!! I just need to have the illusion of a waist -- I'm short waisted, so I'm curious to see how I'll look leaned out and with a taper!!
Off for my pwo shake!! Looking forward to the orange gatoraid tomorrow!!
no pain? Thats great, sounds like your body is getting used to more intense workouts. I always have to remind my clients the goal is not to hurt them the next day just to make sure they cant lift another rep in good form with each set.
Today isn't a great day -- I've been depressed all day, I feel fat, my fat burners are gone and in my shopping spree with my daughter today, I FORGOT to get the gatoraid!!
Anyway, tomorrow is another day and I believe it's legs, arms and ab day. My goal has been to get to 165 by Kellie-Anne's b-day, so my goal this week is to get dowm to at least that.
After my workout, it's grocery shopping for chicken, veggies, eggs and GATORAID and then I need to find a better paying job. I need to get us out on our own!
Re: Angela's Journal
It's awful when things just dont go the way you want them too!
But as you said tomorrow is a new day
But also try and take some time today to sit and relax and to just Stop! there is no need to reflect on the bad its done and its gone move on to a better day
So how long have you been working towards you weight goals?
I've been serious about mine for the past 6 months but have been battling weight and winning for the past year and a half
Re: Angela's Journal
Ahhh..i hope today is a better day for ya Try to stay positive you've done sooo well. We all go through those days. Last week the entire week was like that for me. One thing after another after another.
Even if i'm retaining a little bit of water I feel like a cow, but thats just me and when i say that to other people they think i'm crazy. We are our own worst critics.
Have an intense workout and take those frustrations out on the weights!!
I was SO depressed last night, but enuff of the pity party! I stepped on the scale this morning and WAS NOT impressed. I know I cheated this weekend, but not that much!! That's why you don't weigh yourself everyday!!! Anyway, time for damage control!! I'm seeing lots of chicken and veggies in my future this week!!!!! I must be retaining some water -- there is no way I ate that many cals.! I was taking a "Female" fat burner and it supposedly helped with retaining water -- guess it did!!
I'm going to post my meals in one of Darrin's threads and see what he says!
I'll be working out shortly and I'll post again after!
Workout:
Bicep Curl 3 x 10 pds x 15 reps
Tricep Pressdown 2 x 30 pds x 15 reps
Tricep Kickback 1 x 10 pds x 15
Leg Extensions 3 x 30 x 15
Stationary Lunges 2 x 10 x 15
Pile Squat 1 x 10 x 10
Weighted Crunches 1 x 30 x 15
2 x 40 x 15
v-ups 3 x 15 reps
First on my grocery list -- gatorade -- well, 3rd really -- after my daughter's vitamines and cold medication.
Re: Angela's Journal
Water and the scale just don't agree..lol. I had a cheat meal last night and woke up this morning 5lbs heavier-but thats just water and stored food, it'll be gone by Wednesday. Ya, its not a good idea to weigh yourself everyday--I check in once a week at the same time of day for my weight.
Don't worry, its just temporary--as long as you get back on track you'll be just fine!! Stay positive, we all have cheats (they actually can help trick your metabolism and keep it running at 100%) and its not gonna ruin what you've already accomplished.
Try not to get down, just back on your routine
LA
p.s. great idea to post some of your meals
Re: Angela's Journal
Good to hear your back in the game
Just learn from it and move on!
LA had it right when she said use it in the gym!!! I know when i am depressed or frustrated i go to the gym and usually comeout feeling on top of the world
Coming from a former fat chick, i don't think the odd cheat here or there does any harm
I think its when you do it consistantly for a prolonged length of time, and that you binge to the point of being beyond full!
I lost 2 kilo's last week and yet i had chocolate i must learn to kick my chocolate addiction!
I am on day 6 of cold turkey hehe
