Current Affairs
We are currently playing October 14th - 20th 1997
The chilly air holds the promise of an early winter at Hogwarts. Scattered rain and storms occur throughout the week, and the sky is constantly cloudy.
A pleasant walk (Seamus and open)
Luna made her way down to the lake, her hand clutched a copy of October's Quibbler, which her father had sent her and she thought she would come down the lake for a pleasant read of her favourite magazine.
She sat down on the bank next to the peaceful lake, she dropped The Quibbler next to her and sighed quietly, Hogwarts didn't seem the same as before not since the death of Dumbledore. It would never be the same as before and she hadn't seen Harry, Ron or Hermione yet which disappointed her slightly, as they were her friends.
She picked up the magazine which she had just placed next to her, she looked down at the glossy cover, which had a picture of a woman next to a gold trophy. The cover read Bacia Cunningham's Wonderful Win, Luna looked at it dreamily, she wished one day she would get an award for doing something brave and creative.
Luna's eyes picked out a small group of first years who were running down the path, she knew that the Hairy Clasp Nutra would attack them if they kept running down the path, as it would awake the creature's slumber.
Seamus wasn't the type of person to be sitting by the lake and enjoying the spectacular views of Scotland. Not by a long shot. Sitting on the rock at the shore, he was swiftly making his way through the remaining half of the pack of cigarettes. It was nothing new to see the Irish boy smoking; he had even been caught by different proffesors several times, yet there was a reason for such chain-smoking.
Once again Seamus Finnigan was contemplating the state of his and his mother's relationship. He was just as angry, yet time spent away from the family did its thing, and he had to admit that he missed mum, dad and Kiera. Still his pride didn't allow him to make the first step, and appearantly his mother's pride didn't either.
Lost in his thoughts, Seamus didn't immediately notice another lone figure approaching the lake. He only saw Luna Lovegood as he stood up ready to leave, and grinned upon the sight of the girl. Sure thing, he knew who Loony Lovegood was. Everybody did. And just as everybody he called her Loony on a number of times. Never to her face, though. Seamus Finnigan had his moral principles.
"Hi there," - he greeted her in a friendly manner, walking towards the Ravenclaw girl. It was quite weird, but Seamus never felt any discomfort about talking to anyone, even if it was an infamous oddball of the school.
"Whatcha reading?" He peered over her shoulder, trying to get the better look at the magazine in her hands. "It's The Quibbler, isn't it?" - Seamus asked without any hint of mock in his voice. "I and my sister used to read it, when we were younger" - He added, choosing to leave the fact that they used to do so for a good laugh unsaid.
Re: A pleasant walk (Seamus and open)
Luna's dreamy gaze caught sight of Seamus Finnigan, a Seventh Year Gryffindor for what she knew, she didn't know him that well but she knew that being friendly was the best thing she could do. "Hello Seamus" she said dreamily, her voice was just as dreamy as her gaze.
She turned her head slightly, her gaze once again fixed upon the small first years. She quickly turned her head again, her eyes set upon the tall figure of Seamus, she got up off the ground her hand still clutching the magazine, "I'm reading The Quibbler, my father is the editor of it didnt you know" she murmurred, her mind was somewhere else.
Luna's nose had picked up an unfamilar scent "Can you smell something burning?" she asked, as she sniffed into the air. She could hear laughter in her ears, she turned around back to the First Years, they seemed to be pointing at her and laughing away to themselves. Personally Luna didn't care, it had been happening since her first year, she didn't have the time to care about it now.
"So Seamus, how is school going for you?" she asked, as she put her wand behind her ear for close keeping. Luna had left her infamous Radish earings at home, which she regretted to some extent as she had grown fond of them, though not everyone had.
Re: A pleasant walk (Seamus and open)
Seamus did know. The fact that her father was the editor of The Quibbler was just another one of those things that everyone knew about Luna Lovegood. Another one was her constant dreamy and distant nature, which Seamus noticed throughout the mere couple since he had approached her. It was quite odd, but it fitted her, and Seamus had to admit that the girl was pretty, yet not the type that would really catch his attention.
"Yeah, I actually know that. I guess everybody does," - he replied honestly. It was absurd to think that even a person Luna would be unaware of the whispers behind her back. Yet Seamus was still afraid that she might have taken his words the wrong way, so he eyed the girl intently, trying to make out what effect they had on her.
"Can you smell something burning?"
"Burning? Ah, yes, that would be this," Seamus nodded towards the smouldering cigarette stub on the ground. He stepped on it, stubbing out, and turned to Luna with a grin on his face. "You don't smoke, do you?" - He asked before the laughter of ickle firsties interruped the conversation.
"Bugger off, you midgets," - He addressed them offhandedly. "I mean it," - he added as they seemed rather reluctant to obey at first, and one by one they headed towards the castle. "Annoying, don't you think?" Seamus grinned, eyeing the small figures walking away. "I know I can't really stand them."
"So Seamus, how is school going for you?"
"Pretty good. But it's been only one month, so it's a tad too early to jump to conclusions, aye?" Seamus felt like talkative today. Actually he was that way all the time, and it didn't matter who the listener was. He slouched on the bank and lit yet another cigarette. "What about you?" - He inquired. "Were your folks okay with you going back to Hogwarts?"
Re: A pleasant walk (Seamus and open)
Luna looked at Seamus curiously for a few moments, her dreamy gaze slowly moved down to where the recently stubbed out cigarette was, "No I don't smoke, my dad said I might start growing a tiblius nectus in my chest" she paused as her eyes wandered Seamus for a few moments "I don't want one of them growing in me" she said with a vacant expression.
Luna smiled at Seamus, people didn't seem to mind people laughing at her and usually laughed along with them "Oh yes .... they are strangely ...... odd" she said with a half smile.
It was slightly early for Luna to tell if school was going okay, as nothing bad had happened in the past month, so everything seemed to be okay. The situation could change like that, at any moment, so Luna didn't want to come to any conclusions, regarding how school was going."Well the same really, it's a little to early to say if it's going well" she said with her usual dreamy expression. "My father didn't really mind, he wants me to get my education" she said "Did your parents mind?" she asked, while looking at Seamus intently.

Re: A pleasant walk (Seamus and open)
((I hope you don't mind Draco joining you guys... XD Oh, yes... What day is this?))
Draco had Apparated just outside the Hogwarts gate. His stature, though forbidding as a result of his seemingly inbred hauteur, was stiff with reluctance. His lean shoulders were set in such a way that they almost slumped with resignation. His lips twitched wryly as he opened the gates.
The past month in school had been tiring but none worse than his last year. His mother had been awfully insistent on continuing his education and he'd given in as an indulgence to her wishes. She was practically the only family he had left, with his father in Azkaban. The teachers were wary of him; it was hardly a difficult task to notice and he was fine with the arrangement of having to travel to and from the Manor almost everyday.
He neared the lake...where Dumbledore's tomb lay basking in what sunlight could touch it. He swallowed as an involuntary chill shot through his spine. He'd witnessed his father and some of his Death Eater companions torture other individuals before but never had he been allowed to view a kill. Watching Professor Snape hit Dumbledore with the Killing Curse had haunted Draco every night for the following week. He had all the difficulty sleeping until his favorite professor brewed him a potion for Dreamless Sleep. Even then, he was in unrest.
He tugged at his cloak, wounding it tighter around his shoulders as he trudged toward the castle. He couldn't bring himself to look at the tomb for he feared he might think about Dumbledore's words...again. If the Dark Lord finds out that he'd actually considered the previous Headmaster's offer of protection, Draco was certain his life was not to last for long.
In his haste to pass the tomb, he barely noticed that his pace had quickened. He didn't bother to take the time to glance around and see of there were people around and had consequentially snagged someone's shoulder with his. A sliver of his arrogance prevented him from voicing an apology. If he could have raised his gaze to emit a scoff of condescension, he would have. But as it was, he kept walking...

Re: A pleasant walk (Seamus and open)
((No problem, well *thinks of a date* umm 17th of October, is that ok? lol))
Luna surveyed the boy who had just bumped into her, she instantly recognised the blonde-white hair, and the familiar sneer and sharpness of his face. "Draco Malfoy" she said, her dreamy gaze quickly disappearing with a look of hate, Luna wasnt quick to hate people but after the incidents involving him, Snape and Dumbledore, her hate for Draco Malfoy had grown considerably.
Though Luna hadn't known Draco Malfoy at all, she just felt negative feelings about him. She looked at him as he kept walking past them, "You should look where you are going" she said, her voice dreamily normal, though her tone was louder than usual.
She turned to face the white tomb, which reminded her strongly of Dumbledore, a small tear trickled down her face. She didn't turn back around to face Seamus, she didn't want him to see her like this, since the death of Dumbledore she had become quite emotional, that had never happened since the death of her mother, when Luna had become very quiet and spent time alone.
She quickly wiped away the tear with the sleeve of her Ravenclaw Robes, she turned to face Seamus again and smiled slightly, "Some people are so rude these days" she said with a slight laugh as she watched Draco walk away, her eyes pulled away from his departing figure, though she never knew Draco, she wasn't planning to get to know him anytime soon and plus she had never been friendly with Slytherins.
