This ermine's pike is poisoned! If she slices you with it, you won't die, but you will loose a few extra health points per turn. This could be a good reason to visit the first aid tent, after battle...

Xylus steps out of the gloom, his face radiating pure solemnity. He slowly unsheathes his black sabers as he walks towards the ermine, his eyes slowly digging into hers. Moments later, Xylus charges forward and aims a kick at the ermine's gut, while spinning and slicing horizontally with one of his sabers.

(Xylus! So good of you to join in... This ought to be interesting. Make you a deal. Ermine rolls above 5, you're poisoned. You don't get poisoned, I'll add 10 dubloons to your winnings. Deal?)
Xylus attacks doing a total of 15 damage.
Ermine has 25 health left, but was saved from being winded by her cloak.
Ermine smirks and pushes the ferocious squirrel away with the butt of her pike, then brining it down on his should for 3 damage, cutting Xylus' shoulder strap.
Xylus has 25 health remaining.

OOC: Hey sounds great. You know I come back constantly and say that I'm going to be more active, and then I come back 20 days later and say the same thing? Well this time I mean it. I'm coming back.
----

Xylus stumbles back, taken aback by the ermine's attack. Xylus immediately begins his retaliation by leaping forward. His body spirals many times before landing and aiming a blow to the ermine's head with the flat of both sabers.

(Well, since you can't be in two fights at once, you might as well finish this one quickly. Very quickly, please, I've got homework...)
Xylus aims at the ermine's head, but she had plenty of time to see him spiral through the air, and so she ducked like any sensable vermin would.
The ermine hacks at Xylus' side for 6 damage.
Xylus has 19 health left.
(Vermin do get smarter from experience, you know... Just about poisoned you, there...)

OOC: Oops, didn't know I could only be in one at a time. I'll finish this one, and then I'll continue in the other.
----

*Xylus stepped back momentarily to recover, relieved not to feel any immense amount of pain from the blow. Xylus attacked once more, this time attacking two places at once. He twirled his two sabers skillfully, letting his foe know that he wasn't a pushover.*

*The black squirrel's sabers went two directions at once; his left saber swung down and then back up, aimed at the ermine's right hip. Xylus' other saber swung to the side, arced forward, and came down upon her left shoulder.*

The ermine snorts at the squirrel who is showing off, and prepares for his attack.
Xylus charges in for the attack, one saber aimed for the left, one for the right. The ermine raises her pike just in time to stop the left saber. The other painfully thunks into her left shoulder (Left saber- Right shoulder, Right saber-left shoulder), doing 4 damage. She has 21 health left, and one useless arm.
The ermine's left arm spasems and becomes mostly useless, but in doing so, she accidentally twists her pike, sending the blocked saber flying to thunk into the ground, and dealing Xylus 3 damage. Xylus has 16 health left.
(This might be interesting... A one armed, pike-wielding ermine V.S. a uni-sabered Xylus... You want to go pick that other saber back up?)

*Xylus spends no time to think about his next move. He dashes quickly past the ermine in the attempts of receiving his other blade. He knows he could probably take her on with only one saber, but he doesn't want to risk his life in the process (at least more than he already has.)*

*The ermine is surprisingly light on her paws, Xylus notes, and she quickly leaps towards him. Reacting hastily, Xylus digs his solitary saber into the soft dirt for stability. He swiftly leans his weight upon the hilt and turns, his leg outstretched as he spin kicks the ermine, his footpaw aimed at her face.*

Leaps? Squirrels leap. Ermines are a kind of weasel. They sort of... Scurry. Run. Scamper. Rampage, if you include crazy ermine... But if you're not watching, I suppose it could appear to leap... Oh well.
Xylus hurries to retrieve his weapon. The ermine follows.
Xylus stops, suddenly and does the classic spin kick, dealing a too-surprised-to-stop Ermine 5 damage. The ermine has 16 health left, and is still recovering from a paw in her face.

OOC: I apologize, Opaxia, I mixed up my adjectives, apparently. I am so stagnant...I mean stupid.
-------

*Xylus pulls both sabers out of the moist ground and turns. He lets out a brazen yell of rage and rushes forward. His arm extends and he throws one saber horizontally, straight at the ermine's neck.*

*Not hesitating to see it's effect, the squirrel slides forward with legs in front, in the attempts to trip the formidable foe.*

Xylus grabs his weapons and faces the ermine, yelling and charging in to attack her neck. A neck is a precious thing, and the ermine is happy her cloak of protection saves her so that she only recieves 12 damage.
She has 4 health left.
A desperate ermine stabs Xylus for 4 damage.
Xylus has 12 health left.
Xylus dives at her legs, but the injured ermine jumps up out of harm's way.

*Xylus continues the attack by swinging his only saber to the exact spot he telegraphs the ermine to land, obviously going for the back of her legs. As his body comes to a stop, he grabs his second saber off of the grass once more and stands up. He turns slowly towards the ermine, ready for her attack.*

Xylus whips his saber at the falling ermine, doing 3 damage. She has 1 health left.
The ermine is not looking too good, being covered in cuts and scrapes, but she gets in at least one last attack as Xylus pulls his other saber out of the ground. She lunges in with her pike, doing 9 damage with her pike... Xylus is poisoned, and recieves 1 damage. He has 2 health left.

Death from above
*Feeling on the verge of unconsciousness, Xylus backs off for a few moments to recover, as does the ermine. Both them of them look pretty worn out, obviously due to their little tiff.*

*It was Xylus who made the first move. The solo squirrel charged forward, sabers extended. The ermine stood in a defensive stance, rather than charging at Xy. Xylus sliced downwards, but the ermine easily blocked with her long pike. He followed immediately with a 360-spin, with one saber extended forward, and the other angling downward, possibly to block.*

(Gee, isn't that Rag Wing's slogan?... Tsk, no stating the opposition's moves... Because if it DOESN'T work that way, you're in big trouble. Mostly because you never charge anybeast or vermin bearing a weapon with a long reach. Why mearly block you, when she could gut you, Xylus? I'm picturing your move in my head, and it's not very favorable unless you make it past a pointed pike... If you do, you're home free. If. Roll of the Die: 3 and higher, you make it, 2 and lower, you don't... The reason the chances are unequal is, quite frankly, it's easier to hit a gigantic badger than it is to hit an agile squirrel...)
Xylus charges the Ermine, who is pointing her pike straight at him, adjusting for any moves he makes to either side...
Her pike inches from her victom, the ermine tenses, ready to absorb the shock... Which doesn't come. Her eyes widen suddenly, as she watches the squirrel sidestep her defence, and with a twirling leap, deal her 11 damage.
The ermine dies... Kind of sad. I was even getting to like her. Xylus recieves 18 dubloons. Does he keep the poisoned pike +6 and the torn cloak of protection +4?

OOC: Her blocking was more of a "prelude" to my attack, and hers as well. I'm still getting used to this whole system. To tell you the truth, I'm used to third-person objective sparring, which is very intense, and allows you to control both yours and your enemy's moves. Of course, that wouldn't be fair on this board, because you could easily say you killed your opponent. That would just suck anyway.

Oh yeah, about the weapons. You may give the ermine's weapons to anyone who wants them. If you'd like, I could post at the Port Moss MB and ask if anyone would like to take them. Lord knows I already have enough.

Hm.
I know it was a prelude, and full fancy scripted fights are fun to read, but it bugs me about as much as it does when beasts expect me to work the other half of a defence story for them, when they've already done it. Grrrrr... "Rat 3 attacks me, and I will stab him, but he blocks, so I will bang him on the head, killing him instantly. I won." That's not a story, and that's not basic information for me to work with. Pick one or the other!!!!
But I agree that it's kind of slow having one move at a time, because you don't know what the enemie's up to next... Maybe somebeast with the Reading/Writing skill can take these fights and transform them into stories for port Beasts not participating to see?

No problem. Is there a certain place you want them? Should I post them on the Port Moss MB, or would you like me to email them to you or what?
